Thank You for Loving our Library!

Thank you to all families who made a donation to our Love Your Library fundraiser! Thanks to you we exceeded our $2500 goal by $70. With Follett’s 10% match donation, we raised a total of $2827 for book purchases. We will be placing book orders soon, and when the books arrive, students will come to the library to select and check out their donated books.

News from the District

Kindergarten Registration Begins Online February 14
District 181 kindergarten registration for the 2018-19 school year begins online on February 14. The first step of registration is to go to the registration page of the District website (www.d181.org > Parents > Registration), click the link to register, and complete the online registration process. Then, parents should go to their child’s neighborhood elementary school on February 14 or February 15 (9am – 3pm) to bring in residency documents and the child’s certified birth certificate to be copied. Parents who cannot come during the day have the option of attending a District-wide evening registration event to turn in materials; that event will be held Thursday, February 15 at Prospect School (5:30 – 7:30pm). A list of acceptable documents to show residency is posted online. We look forward to enrolling incoming kindergartners!

Save the Date for March 8 Summer Camp Expo
All community members are invited to the annual D181 Summer Camp Expo, taking place Thursday, March 8 at Prospect School (6-8:30pm). This is a one-stop-shop to meet with exhibitors one-on-one and learn about local and regional overnight camps, sports camps, fine arts programs, science and educational camps, recreation activities, and more. New exhibitors are added every year. Children are welcome, and no registration is needed.

Kids Care Club- Shark Tank Service Style

Does your child and/or family have an idea for a project for Kids Care Club? There are so many wonderful ways in which we can give and unfortunately we can’t reach them all. However, this is your chance to share a project idea with the club! At our last meeting we quickly went over the guidelines for the Shark Tank service style fair that Kids Care Club is hosting in March. This fair is much like a science fair in how it’s presented. Children can work alone or in small groups to create their presentations. They will share information about the organization and project they present. Judges will award a few projects with the money needed to take the project to fruition. Kids Care Club did this last year and we were amazed with the diversity of the projects. If your child would like to present in March, please email Mrs. Linn with the organization and your child’s name at hgausselin@hotmail.com. Feel free to reach out with any questions! Here’s an article from last year’s event for a bit more information.
