PTO Committee Descriptions

The Oak PTO has many committees that work to enhance our students learning, fundraise and build community. Descriptions of the committees are listed below:


Artsonia
 – 

This committee will work in conjunction with the art teacher to display children’s artwork on the Artsonia website. Parents may review their children’s art and purchase items deliver at their discretion.


Blah Buster
 – 

 A fun family indoor festival held at school during the winter. Volunteers needed to help with planning, set-up, games, food, etc.

 

Birthday Celebrations- 

This committee works with the Principal to celebrate students' birthdays throughout the year.


Book Fair
 – 

This committee works with the MRC Director to plan and execute a book fair or fairs.  Proceeds benefit the Oak MRC.

 

Culture Night-

Culture Night: Plan, organize and execute a semi-annual event highlighting a variety of countries, including a talent show and flag parade.

 

 

Directory – 

The PTO prepares a yearly school directory that includes class lists, telephone numbers and email addresses


Family Connections- 

This committee will plan and execute a daughter's event, son's event, and an Oak Parents Night Out. Dates are TBD 


Field Day
 – 

This committee will be responsible for planning Field Day, an outdoor event that takes place the last week of school.


Fifth Grade Events
 – 

This committee will identify, plan and execute special events for the Oak fifth grade students. These events may include service projects, family picnic and class gift.

 

Fundraising– 

Plan fundraising activities (ie. shop days, Charleston Wrap, restaurant nights). Proceeds benefit the Oak PTO.

 

Grounds Committee- 

This committee will change the outdoor planters with the seasons, and help maintain the outdoor classroom as needed.


Holiday Market
– 

The volunteers plans and executes a market in the MRC where students to purchase holiday gifts


Hootiegram Editor -

These people are responsible for the generation of Oak School’s weekly newsletter.

 


Kids Care Club 
– 

Kids Care Club is a service-based club for students in Grades 3-5 who work on projects benefiting the community. Committee volunteers support all club efforts, including monthly meetings held Fridays from 7:45ÃM

 

Library Helpers-This committee will work directly with  the MRC director to provide needed assistance in the MRC and act as a liaison between parents, teachers and the PTO.


Lunch-In
 – 

This committee assists and supports the chair with planning the Lunch In meals/program.  (A separate sign up for Lunch In event servers will be sent at a later date via Food Days)

 
Office Helpers
 – 

Volunteers help in the school office with miscellaneous jobs for the teachers and school secretary. Jobs include copying, assembling packets, stuffing mailboxes, etc. Volunteer time can be flexible and scheduled weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.


Bike Rodeo – 3rd grade parent volunteers

This committee is responsible for the Bike Rodeo and Walk to School Day. The Bike Rodeo, held in early fall, is for 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students. The Rodeo educates the children on bike safety and responsible bike riding.


Science Fair
 – 

Help organize and run school science fair.


School Supplies
 – 

Organize, order and deliver school supplies to classrooms for the beginning of school year. Time commitment involves a few hours in late winter, early spring and the week before school starts.


Staff Appreciation
 – 

This committee plans and executes events throughout the year. Major events including a Welcome Back Staff Breakfast, a Teacher’s Holiday Lunch, Teacher Appreciation Week in May and Principal's Appreciation Day.


Student Enrichment 
– 

Organize student after school enrichment programs and clubs throughout the year.

 

Spelling Bee- 

Plan, organize & execute annual Spelling Bee at Oak School.


Spirit Wear
 – 

This committee orders the Oak School spirit wear for the school year. Preparations begin in July working with a clothing supplier.

 

Talent Show Committee- 

Advise and oversee student council students ex. decorate, and run concessions stand. 

 

Unity Day- 

This committee creates messages/events demonstrating kindness, unity and inclusion.

 

Yearbook and Picture Day-

This committee works with yearbook staff to take pictures of various Oak events throughout the year for yearbook submission. Time commitment is flexible. Committee members attend events based on needs of the yearbook, including Picture Day.


Welcome & Social
 – 

Organize coffee on the first day of school for parents, a "New Kindergartener Parent/Child Picnic" and Oak Parent Mixer. Volunteers contact and welcome new families entering Oak during the year.
