Young Rembrandts
Research and education experts say there is a significant correlation between involvement in the arts and achievement in the classroom. Children who learn to draw using the Young Rembrandts method develop spatial reasoning and fine motor skills, order and sequencing abilities, visualization, and self-discipline as well as fundamental art skills.

TinkrWorks- (2nd – 3rd Graders)
Project 1: TinkRbell & Nightlight: In this project, TinkRers will construct their own doorbells and night‐lights for their bedrooms! The TinkRers will align and assemble the doorbell components and build a wooden box for the doorbell that they can paint and customize. For the night lights, they will use Arduino Nano microcontrollers (i.e., mini‐computers) to program LEDs and sounds the night light can make. TInkRers will use their hands and brains to make their bedrooms unique to them. Best of all, they take everything they make home to enjoy!
Project 2: TinkRplant: During TinkRplant, children will exercise their green thumbs by combining electronics, sensors and micro-computers to build and program a plant monitoring station that will indicate the happiness (or sadness) of their plant provided by TinkRworks. Will their plant monitor display a smile when it is happy? And frown when sad? Or will it blink Oak school colors when it needs attention? Your child will decide!
Project 3: Mighty Kite: In this project, TinkRers will start with a kite that they will decorate with paint and markers.  Then, they will integrate electronics onto the kite (mini computers, programmable LED lights, and sensors) and wire everything together.  Finally, TinkRers will code up their creations to have their highly-visible LEDs flash different colors at different heights.  What could be more fun?

Grades: 2nd-3rd graders
Dates: Thursdays; Each project 5 weeks; Project 1- 1/18-2/15; Project 2- 2/22-3/22; Project 3 4/5-5/3.
Time: 3:10-4:30
Cost: $150 per any 1 project, or save 5% on 2 projects for $285, or save 10% for all 3 projects for $405
Register Online: Available online on 12/4/17 at www.tinkrworks.com or Call: 708-401-5956

TinkrWorks (4th – 5th Graders)
Project 1: Shoot N’ Score: During this project, TinkRers will design their own table-top, arcade-style game! First, TinkRers will put on their woodworking hats and physically build a lever game that shoots a ball at a target and mimics their favorite sport, such as soccer or basketball. They’ll then integrate electronics into their game (e.g., mini computers, sensors, LEDs) and activate lights, sounds and other effects just like a score board at sports stadiums! TinkRers will finalize their projects by designing and 3D-printing accessories to insert in their projects.  The best part?  They take it all home at the end!
Project 2: TinkRlight: During this project, children will be introduced to the world of light and 3D-printing as they design parts for an operational LED flashlight (or a “TinkRlight”) that they will build and take home with them at the end of the project.  Children will learn the basics of computer-aided design (CAD) by designing and 3D-printing stencils which they will use to project images from the TinkRlight they build.  They then will code their lights to flash different colors at the flip of a switch.  Will they project a logo of their favorite sports team or superhero or something else?  They will decide!
Project 3: Weather Station: TinkRers will build a weather monitoring system using an Arduino micro-controller and a variety of sensors that allow the collection of weather data.  They’ll develop the logic for this weather station by coding their electronics using a visual coding environment built by TinkRworks.  TinkRers will learn to apply concepts such as sequencing, loops and conditionals to program the display to report current weather conditions and even make weather predictions!

Grades: 4th & 5th graders
Dates: Thursdays; Each project 5 weeks; Project 1- 1/18-2/15; Project 2- 2/22-3/22; Project 3 4/5-5/3.
Time: 3:10-4:30
Cost: $150 per any 1 project, or save 5% on 2 projects for $285, or save 10% for all 3 projects for $405
