All fifth graders are encouraged to help set up the Free Book Fair at Drexel Elementary after school on Tuesday, May 9th. Bus transportation will be provided to and from Drexel for students, parents are encouraged to carpool as parking will be limited.
Please use the following sign up genius to let us know if your child will be participating and if you would like to join us as a chaperone/volunteer! We can use as many parents as possible.

Parent Volunteers Needed!
We need your help! We are looking for as many parent volunteers as possible to run the First Annual Free Book Fair at Drexel Elementary on Wednesday, May 10th. Come for the morning, afternoon, or all day. We are so excited to start this new tradition but it can’t happen without the support of the whole Oak community.

Walk for Wellness

The Oak PTO would love for you to join us on May 7th at the Walk for Wellness House and to share our team link with others that might be interested in joining us as well. The entire family is welcome to sign up. There are 3k walk and 5k Walk/Run options. Each D181 school will have their own team and we would like to have the most participants including students, staff and families!
The Oak team will be walking in support of those in our community affected by cancer. For those that aren’t familiar with the Wellness House, they are in Hinsdale and provide support services to those living with cancer and their families/friends/caregivers free of charge.

Katie Hurley LCSW discusses the critical role empathy development plays in improving a child’s relationships, mental health, and ability to work through difficult times. She presents an overview of the impact of bullying and cyber bullying and then provides a proactive approach for empowering empathy and resilience in our children. Barriers to both are discussed. Parents will leave the program with concrete strategies for increasing empathy, kindness, and resilience.

Lunch-In Substitutions: Order Now!! CULVER'S!

Dear Oak Families of 1st-5th Graders,
Thank you again for those families participating in our popular Lunch-In program.
I want to update you regarding a vendor change.
Meatheads will be closing their Willowbrook location at the end of April.
They will not be providing lunches for the 2 remaining dates, 4/28 & 5/12. A new vendor, Culver’s, has been secured and will replace Meatheads.
Myfooddays will open tomorrow morning, 4/14, to purchase orders for Culver’s (lunch dates 4/28 and 5/12). Deadline to place orders is Thursday, 4/20 by 10pm.
Please note previously purchased Meatheads orders DO NOT automatically transfer to Culver’s. Parents must place new orders. Culver’s has a completely different menu & ingredients. Meatheads’ purchases on 4/28 & 5/12 have already been credited to your myfooddays account.
Culver’s will provide the following lunch options:
Hamburger meal (includes Lay’s chips & frozen vanilla custard)
Cheeseburger meal (includes Lay’s chips & frozen vanilla custard)
Grilled cheese meal (includes Lay’s chips & frozen vanilla custard)
Corn dog meal (includes Lay’s chips & frozen vanilla custard)
Garden salad meal (includes Lay’s chips & frozen vanilla custard)
**optional item steamed broccoli
**frozen custard can be substituted with Mott’s applesauce (email lunch-in below)

an evening with Chris Singleton on
Tuesday, April 18 at 7pm at the HMS cafeteria, as he presents, Love Your Neighbor.
