Kindness Week!

2/10/2023 12:26 pm

Oak School is celebrating National Kindness Week (2/13-2/17).  We have planned all school lesson ideas, activities, and spirit day themes to reinforce the idea of kindness, acceptance, and unity.  We will wrap up the week on Friday, February 17th with an all-school assembly which will include a motivational speaker about the power of kindness and a video montage highlighting the events of the week.

In conjunction with National Kindness Week, our PTO is running a Valentine’s Day Bake Sale!  We hope to see you there!

Adolescent mental health isn’t about feeling good, calm, or relaxed, but about having the right feelings at the right times, and knowing how to manage those feelings effectively.

Lisa Damour, Ph.D offers guidance to adults on how to help teens open up, and how to keep teens from being overwhelmed by their emotions or feeling at the mercy of their moods. She provides concrete strategies for dealing with teens arguments, risk-taking, emerging romantic lives, friendships, social media and more.

This event is free and open to all. If you are interested in attending, please register in advance by using the registration links.

5th Grader is creating a Free Book Fair! DONATE!

1/27/2023 9:29 am

Book Drive ends Tuesday, 1/31
We are collecting new and like-new (used but in good condition) books starting this Tuesday!
A group of fifth graders are working on putting together a Free Book Fair for our sister school, Drexel Elementary, and the first step in their project is to collect as many books as possible from our Oak Elementary community. Please consider supporting their efforts.

Each grade that brings in at least 250 books will win a pajama day and the grade that brings the most books overall will win an extra recess!
